Color variation is quite dependent on the specific category of pink tile. For example, color variation in pink glazed Moroccan zellige is quite noticeable, as the uneven heat in the earthen kiln produces shifts in tone from tile to tile, along with some expected chips, pits, and crazing across the dynamic surfaces. Our other pink materials, like Wild Fig ceramics, hold a more consistent tone, since their color comes from pigment or mineral content built into the material itself.

Yes, pink tile is a great choice for showers, depending on the material. Our Pink Dahlia matte ceramics carry a DCOF of 0.74, suiting both shower walls and floors, though glossy ceramics can prove too slippery for floors in wet areas. Our zellige is also approved for wet applications when properly sealed to protect the grout lines. On any pink shower floor, plan for a minimum of 1/8" grout spacing and consider an anti-slip treatment after installation.

The right grout color depends on the material in question and how much contrast is desired in the installation. A grout closely matched to the tile keeps the surface continuous, without breaks between pieces. A contrasting grout highlights each individual tile and emphasizes the graphic pattern of the grout lines. A grout that sits between the two holds up well in high-traffic spaces while still defining the grout lines.

Pink tile pairs with a range of finishes, though the pairing is most dependent on the tone and texture of the specific pink tiles in play. White cabinetry or fixtures keep the space open and let the pink tile become the focus. Natural wood introduces another layer of variation and keeps the pink palette grounded. Brass or unlacquered fixtures tend to warm pink tiles further, while chrome or matte black cool them down.

Tile care and maintenance is dependent on the tile type, rather than its color. In general, keep the surface free of grit with regular sweeping or vacuuming, which prevents abrasive damage over time. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and avoid bleach, vinegar, and other acidic products, which can etch glazes and can dull cement or terrazzo. Seal all tiles and grout lines according to the schedule specified in each installation guide, and reseal more often in showers or spaces exposed to continuous moisture or heavy traffic.

Pink tile can look different throughout the day as the room's ambient light changes. You’ll notice more dramatic shifts in glazed tiles, as materials like handmade zellige or glossy ceramics reflect light across the glistening surfaces. Matte ceramics, cement, and terra cotta appear more consistent through lighting changes. Viewing samples in the room's actual light, at different times of day, is the best way to assess the tile in its intended installation space.

Please have your contractor, designer, or installer confirm the square footage needed for your tile order. A professional should measure length by width in feet for each surface, then add the totals together for the full square footage. Plan for a minimum of 15% overage to cover cuts and variation. Handmade tiles with high variation, along with natural stone materials, may need up to 25% to account for a more curated appearance across the installation.
