Yes, and the tiles’ finish will determine its range. Glazed zellige and glossy ceramics can reflect light more dramatically than matte ceramics or blue cement, so monitor tile samples at all hours of the day and night. Blue reacts strongly to artificial light, which matters most in a windowless or low-light bathroom. Testing a sample under the bathroom's actual fixtures, not a showroom light, is a more reliable way to judge fit than going by saturation alone.

The difference in these three zellige colorways is the depth and saturation of the blue glazes. Night Blue is the darkest of the three, a deep and dramatic blue. Portuguese Blue is rich and saturated but lighter than Night Blue. Skylight is the brightest and lightest of the group. All three tiles are hand-glazed, so the tone shifts tile to tile and with the light in the room.

Pool applications require materials rated for submerged, wet environments. Our zellige, ceramics, glass mosaics, and Cotto Allende are approved for pools and spas with proper sealing, carrying blue into a pool surround or a fully submerged application. Plan for a minimum of 1/8" grout spacing and pay close attention to sealing according to installation instructions. For guidance, contact the Zia team at info@ziatile.com or 310‑844‑1170.

Yes, water-toned tiles are naturally suited for wet spaces and should be sealed according to installation instructions, with plans for regular resealing. Our satin Mystic ceramics carry a DCOF of 0.45, which suits both shower walls and shower floors. Our zellige and Cotto Allende tiles are approved for showers, pools, and spas. On any blue shower floor, maintain a minimum 1/8" grout spacing and consider an anti-slip treatment after installation.

Grout color decides how much the individual tiles separate from the field. A grout closely matched to the tile keeps the surface reading as one continuous plane. A grout with a bit of contrast adds definition without competing with the color. A strongly contrasting grout makes the layout graphic, which ensures the grid lines pop against the sea of blue tiles.

More detailed care and maintenance instructions will depend on the specific tile category and finish. In general, regular sweeping or a vacuum pass keeps grit from scratching the surface, while a pH-neutral cleaner handles most everyday spills. Skip bleach, vinegar, and other acidic products, since they etch glazes over time. Showers and other spaces exposed to continuous moisture call for more frequent attention, along with heavily trafficked floors. Consult our installation guides for further guidance on specific materials.

Please have your contractor, designer, or installer confirm the square footage needed for your tile order. A professional should add up the square footage by measuring the length and width of each surface in feet. Plan on a minimum overage of 15% to account for curation and cuts. Our zellige and Cotto Allende, with more variation, can benefit from 20-25% overage for a more uniform result.
