Variation within a color range will depend on the specific material. Belgian Bluestone and marble vary through natural stone characteristics, since no two quarried blocks read exactly alike. Terrazzo varies through the distribution of crushed stone aggregates within the cement base. Earl Grey Japanese ceramics hold the most consistent tone, since they are molded and glazed under controlled conditions.

Yes, absolutely. Grey tiles are suitable for modern interiors because they provide a neutral base that supports clean architectural lines and restrained material palettes. In Belgian Bluestone, grey carries a fossil-rich texture, so each tile reads a little differently depending on the light and the block it was cut from. Large format marble and terrazzo also feel more modern, with fewer grout lines. Grey also pairs directly with steel, concrete, and natural wood, making it an effective choice across kitchen backsplashes, shower walls, and fireplace surrounds.

Yes, depending on the material. Most tiles, including marble, limestone, and terrazzo, are suitable for exterior installations in non-freeze/thaw climates. Belgian Bluestone goes further: it's confirmed suitable for exterior installation in both freeze/thaw and non-freeze/thaw regions, diverging from the rest of our limestone line. Ceramics are suitable for exterior walls in any climate, but not for exterior floors.

Yes, but please be mindful of the material. For wet spaces, we recommend a minimum of 1/8" grout spacing, though please consult the specific tile’s installation instructions as you plan the application. Porous stone, including marble, limestone, and Belgian Bluestone, is not approved for pools or spas or other fully submerged applications. Sealing needs vary by finish: Honed and Heathered Belgian Bluestone require sealing before and after grouting, while Antique Polished Belgian Bluestone does not require sealing at either stage. Carefully read any specific tile’s installation guide before ordering or installing the material, sharing the instructions with the full installation team.

A grout closely matched to the tile keeps the surface reading as one continuous plane, which suits Belgian Bluestone and terrazzo alike. A grout with a touch more contrast adds definition without overwhelming the tile. A strongly contrasting grout pushes the layout toward something more graphic. Please consult the specific tile's installation guide for additional considerations around staining or application.

Care stays consistent across most of the materials in this range. Sweep or vacuum on a regular schedule to clear grit before it can abrade the surface, then wipe down with a pH-neutral cleaner. Skip bleach, vinegar, and other acidic products, which etch natural stone and dull glazed finishes.

Please have your contractor, designer, or installer confirm the square footage needed for your tile order. A professional should calculate the square footage surface by surface, multiplying each length by its width in feet, then add the totals together. Build in a minimum 15% overage to cover cuts and variation. Natural materials including Belgian Bluestone, marble, and limestone may need up to 25% overage if the goal is to mitigate variation, since natural stone needs extra room to align veining and tonal shifts across an installation.
