Zia's Roman Mosaic tiles begin as quarried marble blocks, which are then cut into tesserae squares and finished by Italian artisans. Each piece is individually chiseled rather than machine-cut, resulting in edges that remain true to the hand-finishing process. After clipping, the tesserae are arranged in mesh-backed sheets in solid, fan, and checkerboard configurations, allowing for precise alignment during installation while maintaining the visual variation inherent in natural stone.

Yes, Roman Mosaics require sealing and ongoing maintenance consistent with natural marble tiles. The marble stone is porous and must be sealed before and after grouting to protect against moisture and staining, with special attention in wet areas like showers. Use only pH-neutral products for regular cleaning to preserve the stone surface and prevent etching.

Sweep or vacuum the tiled surface regularly to remove debris that may scratch the stone. Wipe with clean water or a soft cloth and address spills immediately to prevent staining.
