The Zia Tile Story
Zia Tile was born from a love of travel and an appreciation for global craft. Our founders, Danny Mitchell and Mike Leflore, found themselves on adventures that led them to destinations where they were unexpectedly drawn to a single design element: tile.
Vietnam introduced us to the most prolific encaustic cement, Morocco dazzled us with centuries-old glistening zellige, and Mexico welcomed us with earthy terra cotta. Each of these tiles told a story of place, history, and craftsmanship, traditions we knew were worth preserving and sharing.
In partnering with artisans in these regions and more, we gained access to the techniques that have produced best-in-class tile for hundreds–even thousands–of years, right at the source of each original art form. We've made it our mission to design and deliver the highest-quality, most well-curated, and truly timeless tile from around the world.

Since our start in 2016, Zia Tile has quickly become the go-to source for handcrafted tile and natural stone.
Founded and headquartered in Los Angeles, our collection has grown well beyond Zia’s hometown. In addition to zellige, cement, and terra cotta, we have expanded into Japanese ceramics, European marble, French and Belgian limestone, Mexican Cantera stone, and more. Each material collection features distinct colorways, patterns, textures, shapes, and sizes.
No matter the category, each tile in our catalog is one-of-a-kind, quarried or handmade exclusively for Zia. Variation in color and natural imperfections capture the artistry and techniques behind every piece, whether the chips, pits, and crazing of hand-formed zellige or the deepening patina of encaustic cement over time.
